Neste apartamento, em edifício de meados dos anos 30, localizado no Bairro das Colónias, a intervenção proposta visou a criação de uma área social ampla, compatível com a dimensão do apartamento e número de cómodos. Para tal, foi proposta a remoção das alvenarias do menor quarto e integração desta área na cozinha. O reforço estrutural em viga de aço aparente, a paginação do novo soalho, a manutenção da chaminé e dos elementos decorativos do tecto do quarto eliminado, marcam a intervenção e preservam a memória da situação original.

In this apartment from the mid 30’s built in “Bairro das Colónias”, the intervention consists in creating a new social area compatible with the apartment’s size and number of rooms. The wall between the dining room and the kitchen is removed, joining both spaces in a brand new and singular area. However, the visible steel structural beams, the new floor, the chimney preservation and the dining room decorative celling conservation, keep the memory of the original solution and mark the intervention.
